Colleen & Tom's Explorations
This morning we drove up to Stafford where my Henry Abbott came from, and walked up and down the little street he lived in (Sash St) - I don't think the houses there would date back 135 years to 1860. We walked along the main street and went to the tourist bureau where the lady told us that back then the shoemaking industry was very big and that area was where all the cobblers lived and a bit further out was where they worked. The Tourist Information Centre was in the Ancient High House - one of those timber and plaster houses.
We went to St Mary's Church, where henry Abbott married Jane Cadman in 1860, and where their children were christened (include Jane, my mum's Grandma Mercer). It was closed.
After all that, we went to the Aerospace Museum at Cosford. Tom and Jess went through it (3 huge hangars and many static displays). Shannon stayed at the house for the day, and I sat in the car because I didn't want to pay 4.20 to go through it.
