Colleen & Tom's Explorations
This morning we had the alarm set and got up early - we drove to St Mary Cray and bought "off-peak" travelcards to London. It was only 1/2 hour and took us to Victoria Station.
We then took the underground to Oxford Circus, bought tickets for a bus tour (with head phones) and walked to Picadilly Circus (past the Liberty Shop) to catch the bus. We then had a 2 hour tour of London - the traffic was heavy because the Queen was opening Parliament and some streets were closed. I've listed the attractions we saw. We also saw the Statue of Nelson, the US Embassy, Australia House, St Catherine's House (family history), and the Grovenor, Dorchester and Ritz Hotels.
At the end of the tour we had lunch at a Burger King, and then went to the Tower Record Shop across the road (at Picadilly Circus) where Shannon bought a Janet Jackson album and I bought 2 Simply Red CDs and The Pretenders Greatest Hits. We then caught a few trains to London Bridge where we went to the London Dungeons. It was good - very macabre. Jessie and I didn't go into the Yorkshire Ripper part because it was too scary for her.
After the London Dungeon we walked across Tower Bridge (it was all lit up - night time at 5pm) - all the lights of London - very pretty.
We caught a train back to St Mary Cray, bought cheese, milk etc and had toasted cheese sandwiches, biscuits and cider for dinner.
The trains were running late because of autumn leaves causing traction problems on the rails!!!
I thought I had a cold or sinus infection - it's just hayfever caused by the London pollution!!!
