Sunday, 29th September Apocalypse and Marble We're making tracks now. We flew past Ikaria instead of stopping - it looked large, very craggy and barren. We halted for a night off a deserted looking island called Fournoi, bounded by reefs. We had a bay all to ourselves - this for us is the last of the Eastern Sporades. Wednesday, 25th September, Chios and the Mastichoria Strong winds were forecast for last weekend, so we came to a "marina" 1 mile to the north of Chios Town and main port. As with so many in Greece, the "marina" is an unfinished project - breakwaters and quays are in place with rings or bollards to tie up to, but no services like water put in - and no charges, nor anyone in charge. 20th September Nisos Oinoussa Heading East Scootered without incident to our Neolithic site on Skiros. What a fabulous site. Arrived down a dirt track, little hillock overlooking the sea, no-one else there except the archaeologists and other workers. One saw us arrive and hurried to open what turned out to be a superb little museum displaying artefacts found at the site, site plans, explanations, etc. We looked for the kiosk and entry, to pay our entry fee.
