Muppets Rule OK
Sivota, Sun 7th October
Muppets rule ok. The Magats had brought Richard out some muppets - these are dangly fishing lures. All week the chaps had fished in vain. Two days after they left, we were tanking along under sail in a F6 NW with the line out behind the boat. R was down below (online) contemplating bidding on a replacement radar head on Ebay. The rod jumped, R lost his bid as he rushed up to haul in a very nice 1kg tuna. Despatched quickly and tuna steaks barbecued for dinner. There's a result for the muppets. Sorry Roger.
And more livestock. At anchor off the small island of Arkoudhi, this butterfly decided to make itself at home. Difficult from the picture to judge its size, but it's wingspan was a good 4". It was a two tailed Pasha, apparently common that likes to feed on strawberry trees. It actually seemed to quite like pizza.
We are moving slowly north. Flights are booked, the boat lift out also booked. By this time next week it should be tucked up nicely for the winter. As we move north we are meeting up with other boats, some old friends, like Free Spirit, and some new like Orlanda, a beautifully kept 22 year old 49ft version of ours. It is massive and solid - too big for us, but fun to have a look around.
The days are back to hot and sunny and the swimming is lovely and clear. But the nights are cool and drawing in and the forecasts are getting cooler. So it feels appropriate to be winding down and thinking of the return home. We are sorry to have missed the Lymington Rally this weekend, hope all had a really good time.
