And it's goodbye to the shimmering heat for a bit.

Back to Nidri on Wednesday, where we spent a scorchio day sorting out transfers and boat. Charter boat transfers were full, so we approached the local Thomas Cook rep who had capacity on his coach for Preveza airport midday Sunday - we on same flight as their holidaymakers. Tick. Found a berth for Saturday night before flight at Nidri Marine (second hand and new chandlery business with one little pontoon) with power and water - ideal for cleaning and putting the boat to bed. Tick. Met with Stephen who will move our boat for us on Sunday and look after it whilst we're away. They will then bring it back to a pontoon for us on our arrival back. A mini shop, and we're free to move out again to cooler waters until departure.

So the last few days have been spent close to here - top end of Meganisi and Scorpios - to swim and cool down and watch the Italians out to play. And so came back Nidri (have become quite fond of it!) for the boat hand-over and the journey home.

Sunday, 22nd and Preveza airport (little regional airport) is total chaos. Queues of holidaymakers, no information and the girl scanning bags decided she wanted a break and disappeared for half an hour. It was only as that queue was getting longer that another member of staff noticed and found someone else to man the scanner. All very casual.

Picked up by Sophie at her local train station and a nice evening with her of barbecue and catch up - then home to Devon on Monday. Am always surprised when I find things ok at home after a long time away (except for the weeds and damp from the wettest of British summers). But the sun in shining now and it is lovely.

One clear day at home, then it's off again, up to Midlands to see CLOP who are heading back to Spain again - ought to see them before they move at the end of the month. And we will have a very full month of visiting and grandchildren and anniversaries and birthdays - and gardening - before heading back out to pick up the boat once more 1st week September.
