This place, Whale Song, is beautiful. We are about 150kms north of Broome on the Dampier peninsula. There are just a couple of other campers here and we are perched on the top of the red cliffs above the white sand. Damn that low tide, Geoff dragged us out of bed again this morning at 630 to go and look at the wreck of 1 of the Catalina sea planes that were bombed by the Japanese in 1942. We had to walk 1km out on the tidal flats to find it. There was a very heavy fog this morning which meant we couldn't see more than about 50 metres around us. Lucky for the compass. Geoff dragged us out of bed at 630 this morning in search of some 126 million year old dinosaur footprints. They are only visible when the tide is at a dead low which only happens a couple of times a month. We found the footprints - marvellous! Drove from Derby to Broome today via an aboriginal community where we watched a film and purchased a piece of aboriginal art which is being sent back to Sydney (let's hope it makes it). Accommodation in the camping grounds in Broome can be very hard to come by. I get wife of the year award today.
