Day 2
Rose early (6:00am) as we had to get to breakfast and be ready for the airport shuttle by 8:00 Breakfast was lovely, a buffet with everything imaginable on offer.
Arrived with plenty of time for the shuttle but a couple of people were late and didn't know which airport terminal they had to go to. (first world problems!) The driver was really pissed off because he had to sort the luggage into the groups for each terminal. They ended up yelling and pushing each other and the couple sitting in front of us joined in and it almost got to punches being thrown! Her husband had to restrain her. Absolutely amazing! Never seen anything like it! Shame, because the hotel was lovely. I don't think anyone on the bus would go back there! (except us)
Wandered around Changi Airport for a while enjoying the lovely ponds and indoor gardens before 'Scooting' up to Krabi. 'Friendly Town, Friendly People' said the sign and so far I'd agree! Caught a minibus down to Ao Nang beach (150 bht each, about $6) and we were welcomed to the Golden Beach Resort. The grounds were well maintained and a large, clean pool in the centre full of people of all shapes and sizes. The beach is just across the road so after a welcoming beer we jumped in the Andaman Sea which was very warm, well over 30 degC I'd guess. The pool was similar, perhaps slightly cooler.
We had dinner at a restaurant nearby, Lisa had a pizza and I a Green Curry after which I needed a shower! Spent the last hours of the day listening to an American singer singing 70's music at about 110 decibels in the Beachfront Bar nearby. I kept on nodding off although Lisa, rather uncharacteristically, was wide awake!
