Day 8
After breakfast today we headed down to where you book tours and transport and booked a bus for Monday to Hatyai which is on Thailand's east coast as we wanted to meet up with Lisa's cousin, Nigel, who lives in Songkhla which is nearby to Hatyai. After buying some sandwiches for lunch we booked a Long Tail boat for a trip around to Railay Beach West. Although there is a metal ladder down the side of the long tail our embarkation was somewhat untidy! Blame it on the waves! Anyway, a pleasant ride in the Long Tail with several others (they don't won't to go unless the boat is full!) around the limestone karst headland into beautiful Railay Bay West. They water was similarly warm here and the scenery spectacular! It's more scenic than Ao Nang with high cliffs at both ends of the beach. There are lots of eatery's along the beach and plenty of shade. Also walked to Railay Beach East which is the West's poorer cousin. This area looked rather sleezy with places with drug references and no sand as such but mangroves instead. A lot of rubbish around too. We hot footed back to the West! After a beer or two we Long Tailed back to Ao Nang and after showering the heavens opened with thunder and lightning so we went to the restaurant and had dinner inside. Went to bed early as we had a 6:00am pickup to take us to Hatyai the next day.
