Day 3
After a lovely night's sleep on a fairly firm bed we went down to the restaurant for a nice breakfast. The fruit juice I selected exceeded my maximum daily sugar allowance I'm sure, so note to self for tomorrow on that! After breakfast spent a while trying to work out how to upload photos for this blog which took about 45 mins and I'm sure the girl behind the desk in the lobby thought "Why do they bother coming away on holidays and then spend all their time on the phone!" Good question. Anyhow, that's sorted now. Then walked north along the beach with the tranquillity broken only by the occasional long tail boat heading out with a bunch of tourists. Occasionally in this instance is about once a minute! Dropped in to a few shops on the way back and grabbed some sandwiches for lunch (about $2) and then retired to the pool for a while and sent the obligatory photo back to my hard working colleagues at work with just the ends of my feet showing and the pool and mountain in the background! (see Photos, day 3) Also, booked a boat trip to Hong Island for tomorrow for a bit of snorkling etc. Lisa had a massage during the afternoon, something I'm reluctant to do since my near spine shattering experience last time in Thailand. Don't be fooled by the diminutive size of some Thai Masseuses, their hands can tenderise concrete!
Received a flyer from reception about a 'Thai Night Party' here at our resort's restaurant promising 'Free Thai Soup' and 'Free Show' so we fronted up at the advertised time and settled in with a gin and tonic and watched the sun set. The program listed music from 6:00 until 8:00pm which sadly turned out to be an iPod featuring about 6 songs on continuous repeat played from a poor quality sound system. At 8:00pm we were to be entertained by Latin Dancers but unfortunately the MC came on stage and announced that they had had an accident and wouldn't be appearing! Never mind, we still had an act which one normally associates with Latin Dancing and that of course is, Thai Boxing! By this stage we had eaten our meal and were getting a little sleepy but for the sake of numbers we stuck it out until the 'Knockout' and the rapturous applause of about 30 people. The winner then came through the restaurant getting tips from people and so did the 'loser' a little later. We never did see our free Thai Soup! We skipped the fire show at 9:00pm and went to bed.
