Day 11
Today was our 24th Wedding Anniversary and we had booked to go to the Lae Lay Grill Restaurant for dinner which is up on a hill nearby with a view across the water and good view of sunset.
Before that though we had a fairly relaxing day, walking along the beach after breakfast, swimming in the sea and eating lunch at a nice restaurant just above the beach. (they had a 6.5 hour Happy 'Hour'!) They had curries for 100bht which I enjoyed. Lisa is not as keen on curries as I am but the Mango Chicken Curry was delicious! Washed down with some mango juice too.
Lounged around in the pool during the afternoon while the plumber repaired our poorly draining bathroom sink that we had reported faulty on day 1.
We were collected at 5:00pm for the tuk tuk drive to the Lae Lay Grill and were dropped at the bottom of a longish flight of steps up to the restaurant. We got a table right at the front and outside. It was stinking hot, at least 35degC but cold face towels were provided and also a fan. We both had a cocktail but drew the line at the wine at 1,500 bht a bottle! ($60) They even had Craft Beer and I tried a Phi Phi I.P.A. which wasn't bad. Had lovely food and were taken back to the resort from above the restaurant where there was a back road. (perhaps they thought we would fall down the steps, most of which had no handrail) After we got back we sat at the Beach Bar for a couple of hours and listened to some jazz from a 3 piece group who were great.
