As expected we rose at 5:30 and prepared to drive to the Airlie Port at 6:00.
We were able to park all day for $18 and the boat departed at 7:00am, a comfortable catamaran. First stop was Daydream Island, which was flattened by Cyclone Debbie a few years ago but has been rebuilt and only recently reopened. It was lovely. We had, as part of our ticket, breakfast included which was located next to a large pond with clear sides so you could watch the marine creatures swim around whilst eating your corn flakes! We met our guide at 10:00am and she was also lovely and took us on a tour of the resort including a wonderful underwater observatory. Onward then to Hamilton Island where we had a look around before an included lunch at Marina Tavern. On then to Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven Beach where we could go for a swim if so inclined. Stinger suits were issued (although it’s not stinger season) and Lisa went for a swim. Watched the sun set on the return leg back to Airlie and we decided it was a great day out!
