Today the plan was to get as close to Mackay as possible without killing ourselves. We crossed the Tropic of Capricorn in Rockhampton at morning coffee time and noted that our phone GPS gave a different co-ordinate than the actual one. Has it been placed in the wrong place? Rather a pity as there is a big monument on the spot with sun dial etc. that would be difficult to move! Onward we went and by 4:00pm arrived in Koumala, a small town with an even smaller caravan park but the manager was lovely, helped us back onto the site and it was only $28!

Had a beer or two and a meal at the local pub where there were some interesting characters and the lady behind the bar also owned the pub and was nice to talk to.
