Day 183, 3 January 2013, Knott,Isle of Skye - World, meet Toby. Toby, meet World. Strictly speaking we met Toby on our first morning in the studio. He picked his way down the wet path, looked in the window, caught us still in bed then waited patiently at the front door until we opened it. (It's a cat's version of knocking). Once in he inspected the laundry, the luggage, the ankles, the fridge door, the ankles (again) and contemplated our sad lack of tid-bits. Then stood by the door again until we let him out. He did the same thing yesterday. Due to the miracle of underfloor heating (of much fascination to us Australians), Toby sees no need to go hunting for warm chairs or cosy beds - in fact he's pictured here needling the cosy tile floor. He's a grand cat - easily a 6 kg monster and we have no doubt he'll drop by every day - just to check on the likelihood of a snack. Despite his size, he'd have you believe he's but one meal away from starvation... Speaking of things that have recently tickled our fancy, when we arrived at Fort William station the other day (the first time, not the second), we saw a gentleman of some years in a kilt. Not a decorative kilt with fuzzy things and shiny things and knee socks and so forth. A working kilt. With work boots, woolly socks, a farmer's jacket and a woollen hat. Priceless. Also fit, and moving far faster than I could get the camera out. But the memory lives on.
