Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
It has been nice to wake up earlier with the sun now rising around 5:15. It means we get our day started earlier unlike the Northern Territory where we wouldn't get up until 7:30a.m. I am also enjoying the nights getting dark earlier. It means the kids go to sleep earlier and Matt and I have more time before we go to bed.
We drove into Kununurra to restock before heading straight to Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles). I was expecting a slowish drive in, hearing it can take up to 2 hrs to complete the 53km road. It took us an hour forty-five. I think this was the roughest road we have been on yet. It was worse at the start with the corrugations being the biggest. Matts comments included "strewth", "can we just turn around and we will look at it on the internet?", "Oh boy", "arghhh!" and "they should pay me to drive on this road". There were about 4 water crossings which were approximately tyre deep. On arrival our food had all fallen out of the cupboards and we had a broken cupboard door. We chose the southern campground and it has nice big sites but unfortunately fires aren’t allowed due to bushfire risk being so dry.
