Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
Today we explored the northern section of the park. We started with the biggest walk which was 2.2km each way into Mini Palms Gorge. It started easy up a dirt track, then lead to a rocky riverbed before getting harder having to scramble over and around huge boulders of conglomerate rock. It lead to a big chasm which was worth the walk. Zach finds these type of walks better as they are more interesting when it involves climbing rather then a flat unchanging track.
Next we did Echidna Chasm and we got there right on time as the sun began to enter the chasm. It was awesome! I think it has to be one of the best chasms in Australia. It was long, narrow, and windy in places. After seeing this, it's a shame Stanley Chasm has a fee and this is free, as it is 10 times better. The photos don't do it justice. They say the last 100m is the most challenging but it was much easier than Mini Palms and it only involved walking alongside some boulders.
Zach was exhausted after this walk as it is a long way especially in the heat. So the boys went back to the car while I walked up to the lookout. It was only a short walk with a good view.
On the way back we stopped at the Stonehenge and I again did it alone. I was underwhelmed by it. It was a short track showing which trees are used by the aborigines and for what purpose. The information was interesting but most of the time it was hard to match the tree with the sign.
We finished the day in the sunset viewing area.
