Now I have become more confident the ride to work on the Ebike has become really nice. It can be very cold but it is good to have my own method of transport, especially one that gets me from door to door without having to worry about finding a taxi or a bus.
It was the last day for most of the children today as they won’t be here tomorrow so I decided to make Friday review day. First of all we went through animals and clothes then I used the flash cards that come with the text book to remind them of the vocab for my family. The flash cards worked well so I decided to use them to review animals too. I found that there were several pairs of cards so I put them out face down on the table like a game of picking pairs. I couldn’t work out how Jasper and Jeffrey were able to get a pair every time, then I realised that the picture on the back was in fact the name of the animal in Chinese! Even though this was cheating a bit it was still worth doing as it helped them to understand the two languages were linked and that the words for the animals were different in both languages but still referred to the same creature.
The final lesson today we began to draw pictures of my family and link it in with colours and clothes. My mother has a green hat etc. We began to look at sentence structure too rather than them just saying mother and green they had to put it all together. Jade had given me some stickers so I was able to reward the good children, Robert getting the best one as his picture was great and he tried really hard with the writing, it also gave me a chance to show Barry that if he was bad he didn’t get a sticker. I hope to make a set of class rules so they can see exactly what gets them a sticker and what doesn’t next week.
The smaller children did stop and go, run and swim and also yellow and green. Again Alan decided I was mama so I got lots of cuddles and played games with him in their break.
At lunch I went out for a walk and had a good look round the complex. It is made up of lots of expensive looking flats and our kindergarten. We have two security guards, one on each gate. The whole place seems very safe and secure for the kids.
When I got home today Vincent had decided to take me out for dinner so we got in a cab to bar street and tried out the Cantonese restaurant that Paul had recommended. We managed to find quite a few vegetarian things on the menu and I was starving after my long day. When you order in a Chinese restaurant you get several dishes and eat right off the serving plates. They sometimes arrive in a strange order but you can pick at lots of flavours, I like it a lot. We popped into Q’s bar after to see Eagle and Dave and have a quick drink but the bar was quite empty so we played a few games of pool then went home promising to go back tomorrow if the weather was bad and we didn’t go away – apparently they have a famous band playing.
