Neil's Round the World Trip!
I really slept in today and was 15 minutes late for my class with Lucha. The lesson went well however Lucha did warble for a while and I got a bit confused as to what we were learning. Nevertheless she continued and we covered the conditional tense "I would like, I would eat etc". It was really easy.
We then had our break and I paid the school their last payment for my classes and homestay. I had some banter with Pedro in the courtyard and I drank some strong coffee to wake me from my slumber!
I had the rest of my lesson which went really well and so I now have just one final lesson tomorrow with Ingrid the lawyer. I returned to my house and we had avocado rolls. I then went into the city with Melanie. I tried to buy my bus ticket to Sucre but the woman told me you can only buy the ticket on the day of departure. So no advance booking then.
Myself and Mel then got a taxi to the Christo Concordio, the statue of Christ which looms over the city from a hill on the north side of the city. We got the Teleferico cable car to the top and took some pictures and also absorbed the exceptional view of the valley and city. We would have walked but apparently its dangerous as there have been muggings. So we took the safe option and got the cable car back down. There was a tv crew filming a number of well dressed Bolivians for what appeared to be some kind of party political broadcast to all the Cochabambinas.
We then walked the full length of Avenida Heroines (the main drag). We stopped for a coffee in Cafe Francés where we found Jaqueline and Darcy studying whilst drinking the great coffees they serve there.
We got a bus back to our neighbourhood and I had dinner with my family. I watched "Los Simpsons" with the grand-daughters.
Tomorrow we are going to a nearby town called Collaquillo (?) and there is a bar called "Chernobyl" which has been serving Chicha since 1986 (hence the name). Chicha is the provincial drink of Cochabamba and is reputedly the best! So tomorrow I'm going to give it a go and watch the first matches of the Copa Del Mundial (WC06).
