Neil's Round the World Trip!
I got up at the right time today and then went to my classes with Ingrid. She used to be a lawyer so we chatted about law for an hour (can you believe it Monty, in the heart of South America and I chatted about law for an hour WTF!).
On my break I chilled out in the courtyard with Marco and Ruben who's just arrived from Argentina. He's from London. Joaquin told us about an expedition to the jungle on Friday for three days. I can't wait as I've never been to the jungle before. Game on! I was warned to be careful with my camera and my watch as the monkeys steal any stuff like that!! There's going to be a range of activities so should be fun! Also we have been assured the jungle north of Cochabamba has no malaria but does have yellow fever (however I think we're all vaccinated against that!).
The second part of my lesson was great, we covered lots of exercises and I completed them without much problems. After my class I went to my house and had lunch with my family. It was the usual; spicy floating potato soup, chicken and rice then fruit.
I went to the nearby internet cafe and updated my journal, browsed the web etc. I then got a bus into the city on my own (which we're not meant to do!). I walked around the city and visited the "La Cancha" market which was interesting! I also went to a coffee house and bought a paper. I then sat all sophisticated perusing my Bolivian paper (which I can read now I don't have to pretend and just look at the pictures :) !! I sipped my mocha and did a spot of people watching ok chica watching!!
Later I walked to the Plaza Principal and chilled out there for a while looking at the street vendor stalls. I walked to my fave Salteña place and had 2 salteñas; they were delicious! I then got on a crowded bus back to my barrio.
The bus was crowded and I don't mean people standing; I mean people hanging out of the door and faces compressed against the bus windows. It was terrible plus the buses are made for Bolivians so I had to duck and couldn't see out the window so had to ask a woman to tell me when my barrio was!
Also I thought because it was so crowded the driver wouldn't see me so I got off and walked away. However he peeped and shouted "pasaje" so I had to walk back and pay the equivalent of 7p. I fare dodged a 7p ticket...that's terrible.
