We all woke up around 730 am and it was cold and damp. The dew was so heavy overnight that everything outside was soaked and we were very grateful we'd packed up the night before. The beds were packed away wet though and the caravan floor was trashed as we walked in and out packing up to leave. We were on the road by 830 am and the first stop was Beaudesert for a much needed coffee! After that we climbed up The Great Dividing Range for some fantastic views and then on to Warwick passing beautiful farming country full of baby calves and lambs and a few kangaroos! We had hoped to stop in Warwick for lunch but couldn't find anywhere suitable to park the van so we carried on to Liston, much to the kids' disgust! Liston is just over the Queensland border in NSW so we gave a little cheer as we entered the State and then found the Lavender Farm. The farm is actually a cattle farm but a small part of it has been turned over to Lavender production, bed and breakfast and camping accommodation. It's in a stunning spot with green rolling hills as far as the eye can see and we were the only guests! We set up camp just in front of the lavender fields and had access to power, costing us $15 a night to stay - awesome! We also had a huge fire with free wood and a cricket pitch! The kids soon made friends with the resident Border Collie called Tallis who just wanted to play fetch all day. Annie in particular was besotted with him and didn't give the dog a moment's peace! We made lunch and visited the lavender gift shop here then drove back into Queensland to explore Stanthorpe, the closest town. It has a large river running through it with some great walking tracks and playgrounds. We picked up some groceries and then came home and lit the fire. Nick played cricket with the kids but Tallis kept running off with the ball so the game didn't last too long. We had burgers in a bun around the campfire for dinner and then sat outside watching the stars until the fire had burnt down. We'd lost all track of time by the time we came inside and it was way past the kids' bedtime so they had a very quick wash of their face and feet and then went straight to bed. We watched TV for a while and then went to sleep too as it was freezing and too cold to keep your arms out of bed to read a book!!
