Woke up early as it was freezing despite the sun shining. Packed up the van and was just about finished when Doris and Joerg showed up to say goodbye. Instead of unpacking the coffee machine we drove to Mogo, a historic mining town about 15 minutes away. We walked the small main street, which was full of art galleries, gifts and clothes and stopped at a café and ice cream shop. Doris bought the kids all an ice cream while we had a coffee with scones and jam. I bought my first souvenir (all of $10) and we eventually said goodbye and hit the road. We arrived at Cudmirrah around 1pm and were the only caravan in a park on Swan Lake. As we drove to our site we passed some massive kangaroos sunbathing on the grass that didn't seem particularly bothered by us at all! We had lunch and did a few loads of washing and cleaned the van, then walked to the lake. It didn't have much of a shore to walk around so instead we crossed the main road and walked down to the beach. The beach was pretty wild and the waves big and powerful, crashing on to rocks scattered all over the place. About five surfers were being towed out to the bigger waves by two jet skies and it was very impressive to watch. We walked along the beach for a while and then came back for coffee. Initially we had planned to spend about a week here using it as a base to explore Jervis Bay (as its cheap!) but because of all the little inlets around the road in and out of here is quite long and we would be travelling a lot each day. We have therefore decided to pay a bit extra and have booked into another park on Wednesday in Huskisson, the oldest town in Jervis Bay. Nick made dinner and the kids all had a hot shower, good scrub down and a hair wash - they were looking pretty feral! Then we spent the evening watching a bit of tv before bed and I spent the evening doing some paid work for WoundsWest which will help pay for the next caravan park!!
