27th January 2011
This morning we left Mount Cook at 9.50am and drove along the road for a short walk to the Alpine Memorial, which was dedicated to all the people that have died on the mountains. It was very sad.
Jon is staying for 3 nights so we had to leave him behind at the hostel which was weird as we had spent nearly 2 weeks with him. I will probably visit him in San Fransisco when i'm there though.
We drove drove drove and stopped for lunch in a place I can't remember the name of. Oscar said they had the best pies in the South Island but that was LIES.
I was sitting at the front of the bus today so got to control the music again :o) Some may say i'm a control freak but not sure what would give them that idea...hahaha.
We got to Christchurch at 5pm(ish) and Oscar dropped me a Swedish girl (Marie) at the airport. This meant that I had to say goodbye to Nina, Mark and everyone else on the bus and it was very sad :o( Nina and Mark got off to give me a hug and it was so hard to say goodbye! You get to know people really well when you spend 24hrs a day with them.
I was glad to have Marie there and we went for something to eat and had a nice chat before I went through to the gate.
The plane was late but the ride was nice and San and Dave were there to greet me in Auckland. It was lovely to see them again and the journey back to their house in Whangaparaoa took about 45 minutes.
We stayed up chatting till past midnight and now it's time for bed!
Did you know that the plastic things on the end of shoelaces are called 'aglets'?
