All alone in the big wide world
Today we headed for the desert, however on they way we called at the Jaisalmer fort. This wasn't as bad as expected as instead of having some broken English speaking tour guide we each had personal mp3 players. Thus we could go round as fast or as slow as we liked. Again ended up wondering around with Erin-guess she is my boring fort partner now! Anyhow rushed round the fort as i was far too warm and also because at the exit was a so called very nice air-conditioned restaurant! There was but due to the fact we were heading to the desert and we were told there were no toilets there I chose to ea very light.
We had our food met up with the rest of the gand and jumped on the crazy bus. The roads to the desert were pretty crazy too, well you would probably call them tracks both consisting o either mud or sand!
Once we had got as ar as we could in the bus it was time to swap to a camal. What a wicked experience this was especially getting up and down on the camel. Mine was pretty good apart from she was one lazy woman-we would start cantering then after about 30secs she would return to walking! So i guess the female race is the same in the animal kingdom also! The camel I was on had a pretty comortable saddle but everyone else seemed to be complaining about theirs! Towards the end o our two hour journey I was followed by Steph and every so often I would ask to see how she was doing. Steph would always reply with "yes I'm fine" however her face would always tell her true feelings as she had what can only be described as the biggest scowel on her face! Sorry Steph but you did lol!
We finally arrived at camp and i looked pretty much like a circus with all the large tents. We were assigned two per tent and on close inspections toilets and a shower were revealed. This was good news to all apart from the 50% of the girls who went behind a bush on the way (pics in process of being developed guys).
That night we all met up at 19.00pm in the restaurant/bar tent had a pretty decent meal which was closely followed by some local villagers who performed music, songs and dances. Some of the girls and Damien went up for the dancing but I couldn't so I hid around the back of the tent until it calmed down a bit! The bar served Vodka and coke so I started on those then switched to lager, most of which was consumed by steph!
Later on and many more drinks later sharon got her laptop out to provide us with western music, God knows who's idea it was but it was decided that it was Kareoke time and the torches were to be used as mic's! I did sing but not publishing which song it was.
After we drunk the bar dry and everyone was wasted we got our beds out of the tents and slept in one long line under the stars. If we had been sober dont think we would have dared do this as there were some very large bugs in the desert!
If you can ever experience it guys go to the desert its awesome! plus vodka and beer make any experience a good one!
