Got up to a warm but overcast 24 degrees. After breakfast and a mile, I laid on the very back of deck 8. It was extremely windy. Apparently, on decks 10 & 11, it was really warm. Men losing by even more in BoS. After that, I went back to my cabin, only to discover that it was chucking it down outside. It dried up enough for me to lose at deck quoits. Then after a cuppa, I sat on the back of my deck and read a bit and did a crossword. It was cooler and overcast, but pleasant. Lost in a 3 way tie break in the Individual Quiz. After dinner I saw the Headliners in 'Destination Dance' in the Curzon Theatre. Then it was the pub quiz. We were totally gobsmacked to win through to the tie break and even more so to win that too! Then it was Syndicate Quiz and won that too! Outright. So that's two bottles in one evening and seventeen, overall.
Yesterday I talked about the food, today I'll mention alcohol. Firstly, all the prices on board are in sterling, rather than US dollars, which is nice. Secondly, the booze is reasonably priced, about London pub prices and without the 15% 'service charge' the American lines add on. The P&O house wine, the one they give away, is about sixteen quid a bottle. Bombay and tonic is £4.10. Including those in the restaurants, there are over a dozen bars on board.
They do mix cocktails, but the choice is nowhere as near as extensive on, for instance, Royal Caribbean. I'm not sure, that I could get, say, an Appletini or other like drink, but I manage! Tomorrow will be an alcohol free day for me.
