Two weeks today and I'll be home. One of the cruise highlights today, the transit of the Panama Canal. Two years ago I went East to West, this time I went West to East.
I got up at 06:30 and when I looked out of my window, I saw the Bridge of the Americas. I went up to the 'secret' balcony on deck 10 and took shots of the bridge. Then after breakfast we passed through both the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks. At 10:30 was a crew vs passengers deck quoits, we were passing through the Galliard Cut at the time. The passengers won every game, though some (ahem!) were a close run thing.
Barbara, Mavis and I went to Phil and Yvonne's cabin for tea and cake. After that we had the worst of all the deck barbecues this cruise. I then watched the approach to the Gatun Lock with Barbara from deck 14. After we'd entered the lock and started to drop, we went down to deck 7 to see the ground getting closer. As we passed through the third stage, I was touching the lock wall when part of the railing round the bottom of deck 9 starboard was, err, slightly dislodged, shall we say! There was also a bit of noise coming from the port side too.
We're now sailing the Caribbean en route to Curaçao. The weather is a lot windier than the last couple of days. Five of us (Linda isn't too well) took part in the Syndicate Quiz and did really badly.
