It’s refreshingly cool, drizzly and breezy when we wake. Today is our first ‘standstill’ on this trip. No need to get up early or plan any routes or get on the road. We’d decided not to go out today even before the rain made that decision for us.
After a quiet lie-in we enjoy a cooked breakfast, including some of our Troglodyte mushrooms, which have oh so much more flavour that the sterile blobs from Sainsbury’s or Tesco.
It’s a lovely, restful and relaxing afternoon and reminds us why these standstill days are important now and then.
In the afternoon Claudie asks if we would like aparetif this evening, to which we say yes.
At 18:30, still in daytime attire of boiler suit and vest, she brings over wine produced on her neighbour’s estate, some cheese straws and a pot of veal casserole which she says is to her grandmother’s recipe, for our meal this evening.
We sip wine and chat and look up translations for just over an hour, then Claudie has to leave us as she must prepare food for her family visiting tomorrow. She even invites us to join the party if we wish.
We came here originally in 2015 because it was the nearest France Passion to where we were when we tired of driving on a very hot day. Now we are good friends and treated like family.
No wonder we love the adventures of France Passion.
