Another bright sunny morning. We lie in bed watching the starlings flitting about on the roof and gutter of the house beside us. More ships pass by as we have breakfast then Ali goes to see our host, Isabel, to buy some more cidre and some jam.
We need a service point today but the first one at La Malleraye sur Seine is obstructed by the weekly market and the second at St Nicolas de Bliquetuit is out of order. Finally there is success at Norville. Anyway, the route on our search for services is pretty and involves us crossing the Pont de Brotonne again in the opposite direction.
On the way into Norville we spotted a boulangerie, so after servicing the van Ali walks back to buy sandwiches only to find it has just closed. It's one infuriating fact we never get used to in France; the places you want to buy your lunch from go and shut at lunch time.
So we make lunch in the van and set off on the next necessity - fuel, which we get in Notre Dame Gravenchon.
The delays have compromised our intended route so we decide to head for Honfleur and start our Route de Cidre tour from there tomorrow. We cross the Tancarville bridge after passing oil refineries and industrial zones then take a route touristique around Conteville, with thatched cottages, neat gardens, orchards and young cattle. There is also Phare de Roche, a lighthouse lantern sitting incongruously upon the top of a white cliff that is well inland, though its warnings are for river traffic which also is some way inland.
The aire in Honfleur is busier than we have ever seen it, but we squeeze into the front row after a French family moves their picnic table out of the way.
Vans continue to pile in, double parking when necessary. We look at the guidebooks and plan some of tomorrow's route.
Baked salmon with pesto and couscous for dinner.
