Hi!
Today nine of us (Emma, Debbie, Josh, Rachel, Jen, Filip, Mats, Polly and I) went to Tigre. Tigre is just over an hour away from Buenos Aires, but it feels like a million miles away! Upon arrival we boarded a Lancha Colectiva (a boat bus!) and took a 30 minute journey up river to Tres Boca in the Parana Delta. I'm not sure why the water is brown, but it is clean and safe to swim in! Maybe some geographer (ie Helen, Nic?!) can explain why! The scenery is truly beautiful - lots of greenery, beaches etc! In fact it's actually a bit like the Norfolk Broads in the sense that there are many unique houses on the river front. There's one big difference though...the weather is much better here than in Norwich! When we got off the boat we walked through the vegetation, which was very tranquil. The people who live there get around by using canoes! We had lunch at La Riviera, a pretty little Riverside parrilla, before heading back to Tigre. From there we went to Puerto de Frutos, a market. It was supposed to be a traditional craft market, but it wasn't! Unfortunately the majority of the stalls were full of the usual market rubbishy stuff! I don't think I'm a market person...I'll stick to the boutiques in Palermo! After food and drinks at the hostel Filip, Mats, Shayne, Polly and I met Dani for a few drinks. Dani works at the hostel so it was great to see him outside of work. We went to a nearby bar before moving to Plaza Serrano to sit until the sun came up! Even when we left the Plaza was still pretty full! Argentines like to party! Whilst walking home the guys thought it was a good idea to climb trees! I hear you ask "Why?" and in all honesty I don't know! Good job Polly and I are sensible...!
