Well I finally did it...I left BsAs! It broke my heart, but at least I know I'm going back in July! Anyway we've been to El Calafate for three nights. Our hostel was gorgeous, and can you believe this our room was called Buenos Aires! Ha ha! Also, the room nextdoor was called Fitz Roy! It was like a home from home! Our first day was spent seeing the town, walking by the lake - where the local kids rode bikes and skateboards on the ice! On Wednesday we visited the Perito Moreno glacier. We went on a boat ride and took a walk, which allowed us to get really close to it. The glacier is huge, ie bigger than BsAs! The noise of it advancing was almost , if not as impressive as the sight. On Thursday Clem and I were up with the larks...6.15am (AAGGHH!) to go on a boat ride to see the other glaciers (Agassiz, Onelli, Spegazzini and Upsala). Getting up early was well worth it though - we saw the sunrise, got really close to huge icebergs, saw the other glaciers, walked on ice and had a snowball fight! Ha ha! All in all El Calafate was really good.
