Breakfast at McDonalds then walk back to motel to try and get to campervan place. Britz said they wouldn't pick us up only from airport, but they would have to drive past the motel to get to the airport. As the Americans would say, 'go figure'. We were waiting for the shuttle bus to go back to the airport when receptionist called a taxi firm to see if they would take us the short distance. They would, so we ordered that. $20, not bad. Got into Britz and as soon as they found out who we were, we were shown round the vans by the branch manager. I think the complaint letter got to where it was suppose to! So it pays to complain. We both received 2 days refund from the Melbourne office. The auckland office couldn't do enough for us and brought more tea towels and a step for Audrey. Both mum and Audrey inspected the vans before setting off. Unfortunately we've later found that we didn't have a chopping board. We set off and got lost on the way. I was driving and the navigator was dad. It was interesting and fun filled! We ended up missing our junction and instead of travelling up the east coast, travelled up the west. The language was choice coming from dad. We stopped in Helensville for shopping and lunch. 5 of us went to one cafe and dad went to another. I had a lovely bowl of chicken and veg soup. We motored along and saw some stunning views. Dad drove this bit as we headed to Whangarei, phonetic sounded fan gare ray.
Stayed in our first Top Ten site. Andy and I have signed up to their Wifi. 3Gb for 30 days for $50. Site placed us together with a picnic bench in between. Had tea and chatted for a bit before I was time for bed. Just as we got in the heavens opened. To say it would've been warm with the rain I was cold and couldn't sleep.
