Today we went to Milford Sound as part of a coach trip. Would recommend using a company to get here. Not only for the commentary and local knowledge, but otherwise your stuck on a narrow, windy, road behind about 5 coaches.
Up early as taxi taking us to the coach pick up arrived at 7:05. Dad set his alarm for 5:30am. Mine was set for 6am. We stopped for a couple of photo ops on the way to Te Anau and again on the way to Milford Sound harbour. Picked up the boat at 1:25 for just over a 2 hour cruise. A picnic lunch was provided and it wasn't bad. Just enough to keep you going. A double deck sandwich, cheese and biscuits, apple, small carton of juice and a bag of mixed nuts, seeds, fruit and chocolate.
The views were amazing and made you feel really small. Saw some seals and penguins. I have a few pics of a boat against the mountains and you appreciate the scale of it all.
Journey home not much to say. Nodded most of the way home.
Tomorrow morning being picked up at 8:15am. Lie in! Got the Jet boat tomorrow. Time to put in the contacts again! Argh itchy insect bites.
Fingers crossed for a good nights sleep. Knackered does not begin to describe it.
