Off before 10 and heading towards Hokitika. Stopped just before Greymouth for a cig break. Not many places to stop. Where we stopped there was a restored engine so that kept dad busy while we had 2 smokes and used the facilities of the van. I didn't fancy trying the dunny. We bypassed greymouth as heading straight to hokitika. Driving past a petrol station we saw a 'crazy about rugby' van. As we've seen a few now I waited until I saw the name on it before I beeped. It was Andy and his parents. We pulled into the petrol station across the road and filled up. They pulled up on the correct side and Andy came rushing over to check with campsite we were aiming for. We then got back onto the road and headed off. Had a quick sandwich at the van before Allan drove us into town. Had a look around all the shops before going back to the first one. Bought myself a pendant and mum got the earrings that match. Got back to site and mum, Andy and I went for a paddle. Got a bit wet, the tow of the sea was strong and lost our footing a few times as the sand disappeared and became rocks. You can tell your in a volcanic country as the sand is black. Tea we did in the kitchen. Burgers and veg. Went back onto the beach to see sunset but too many clouds. We waited till it got darker and made our way to the glow worm dell behind the campsite. It was very magical. No wonder people believe in fairies.
