Slow start to the morning. Left site about 10:30 to make our way to Russell. I drove and dad took us the scenic way along the coast. We stopped for a break at a place called Otewa I think. Dad bought a paper and the local said that from whangarei to there, there was 206 bends in the road. We carried onto Russell and stopped there for nearly 2 hrs looking in shops and having a lovely meal in Sally's. I had Marinara, which had four green lipped mussels on the side and fish and prawns in a tomato sauce with pasta. Mum and dad both had chowder and bread. Was a very nice lunch. Cost $52 about £26. We took the car ferry across the bay to Paihia. Took about 5 mins. Saved about an hour driving.
Driving to Kaihu to the next campsite. Should be there in a couple of hours. See if I can sleep.
Oh dear spoke to soon. Lorry has jack knifed on main road SH12. Unfortunately no signal so can't phone the campsite to let them know we will be checking in late. There is space on the road for cars to get through, but our van is too big. Woohoo. Someone's turned up. Yey it's been moved. Only there for just over an hour. May get to campsite for 7. Still no signal.
At campsite. No signal, but wifi. Tea of sarnies.
