Well I thought I had seen everything this country has to offer - actually I have never thought that as I am fully aware that there is a side of Cambodia that if I went to the wrong part of town I would see all too clearly!! Any way back to my side of Cambodia, I have seen sick children on the back of a motorbike with their drip attached, pigs just laying across the back of a bike, a man asleep on the railings of a cart (no wider than your hand), men mending holes in the road with no closed lane beside them, indeed the lane where they were wasn't even marked - sorry I exaggerate he had a flag on a pole in the hole he was trying to mend. The list of things I have seen and accepted as normal just continues to grow. Today I think takes the biscuit- at least for now.
I was in a Tuk Tuk going to the ministry of education (I am moving in those kind of circles now) with a Cambodian colleague. She suddenly exclaimed and said that's dreadful - I had to agree. I then realized she was thinking about the traffic and not the man who had just set his metal ladder up, in the middle of the dual carriage way, right in front of us!! What you may well ask was he setting his 12 rung ladder against - as I said he was right in the middle of the road with cars, motos, bikes, tuktuks, people and lorries etc all rushing past him (rushing is an exaggeration as I said my colleague had already commented on the traffic). He had set it up against the wires that were across the road as he was going to add another to the tangled mess. How they know which one goes where I haven't a clue but what is more surprising is that they survive putting them there in the first place!!.

Jan Kathryn commented on the tangle of wires everywhere!
