I'm writing this at half past midnight whilst sitting on the balcony drinking a Corona and talking to Steve. Yes I did say talking, with no Internet we are actually speaking to each other and it's surprisingly ok :)
We decided to blog this, as we did the Sweden trip, so we remember the little things that are so wonderful at the time but so quickly forgotten.
Today was travel day. Suitcases stocked full of clothes, kids brimming with excitement and me overdosing on 'kalms, natural remedy for a more positive outlook'. Time in the airport went quickly: Steve drank a few almost holiday beers to get in the mood and the kids spent some of their money on flight entertainment (greatly encouraged by us).
The flight was fine but very very long! Ed coloured a little, had a snack, watched a bit of tv then about an hour in he announced he was going to sleep and that was him sorted till we woke him for landing. Kayla was good and managed to keep herself entertained-I think me n Steve were the worst because we were completely bored.
Coming in to land was great, we circled Tenerife and the views were amazing. I imagine the tourist agency pay them to do that so you feel the urge to explore the island! Kayla didn't enjoy the flight, she didn't like taking off or banking, during the landing there were a few sudden drops which she wasn't thrilled about....ed whooped like it was a fairground ride!!
We got our car without issue, filled it at the petrol station and even found our way to the apartment from memory (just as well since we gave no thought to a map or directions).
Pretty much everything is the same as last time. We settled in then went to the supermarket for supplies, tea was the traditional Spanish dish of beano de toasta mit crispos since it was late but we were starving.
After tea we went for walk to the beach and the kids played on the play area, just a quick visit as the sun was setting but enough to get them excited about tomorrow's adventures.
Which brings me to now, chilling on the balcony in the dark. The moonlight casting a nice glow and the odd plane going past in the distance. I could get used to this. Cheers.
Things to tell Dave
1) the sofa bed does not 'simply convert'
2) the shower mat is some medieval torture device and we'll likely never walk properly again
3) we're not coming home, we're going to squat here

Joan Smart Did you say you we're not coming home? We will look after the guinea pig. She is fine. Enjoy the holiday. Love Mum
