Our first full day. We treated ourselves to breakfast in the Pink Parrot, a cute little cafe in Las Galletas that we had frequented last time. The sea was rough, the fishermen had just returned with a haul for the fish stalls and everyone was going about their day jobs.
After breakfast the kids played in the park for a while. Except for the bar lined promenade it's not really a tourist place so is intriguing to see daily life of locals and you could people watch for hours...or until Edward needed the toilet in our case.
Before lunch we did something totally foreign and went to Iceland to stock the cupboards. The first thing you see on entering Iceland is a freezer of authentic Greggs pasties and sausage rolls, it all seems a little weird. It's worth noting that if you put too much shopping in your carrier bags here you find the same result as at home but the kids managed to chase our goods down the hill and save the day (I told them their lollies were rolling so they sped up).
We had lunch at the apartment then changed into swimming gear and went to Abades beach. Apparently it's where they filmed Clash of the Titons though Kayla refers to it as "the beach where that wave knocked mummy over twice last time". Undeterred me and Kayla hit the sea and had fun until we had so much salt on our tongues and in our eyes we thought it best to go back to the sand. Steve paddled too but Edward sat routed to a nemo beach towel and played with his figures.
We had tea at the apartment too, meals on the balcony seem the best least stressful option with kids and we are all about stress free existence. The evening saw a walk to the front, a play on the slide and a drink at Pearls Pantry where the women who run it have taken a shine to Edward (we're hoping they'll request he stays on as a pot collector).
So it's now 10.30, we're back on the balcony looking at the stars and enjoying the quiet. The kids are asleep and looking forward to tomorrow and still no major arguments, long may this continue.
