Another windy night, and still windy today, but sunny and warm. The place was jam-packed last night, but by 9am, the place was half empty, with lots of people departing, so we could actually see the place - it's quite big, with a great playground, jumping pillow, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball ring and big pool, so Dad, Renee & Eamon enjoyed a swim after yummy bacon and eggs for breakfast. The shopping arcade's across the road, so we wandered over for coffees and checked out the options for snorkelling today or tomorrow (the wind and swell conditions are still not on our side). We decided (much to Mum's displeasure) to do a quad bike turtle trek adventure plus snorkel.
So at 12.30pm we walked across and got geared up for the 2.5 hours of fun - snorkels and fins were stashed with our towels in a box at the front of the quad, and helmets were donned. Dad had Eamon on the back as pillion, and they were first in line behind our guide Taylor; Mum had Renee as pillion and they were 5th in line - there were about 10 bikes all up. We travelled down the road towards the boat ramp in 2WD, changed into 4WD and ventured into the sand dunes where we drove for quite a bit - it was great fun, with lots of bends and twists, undulations (and a few goats) and quite corrugated in parts. A couple of times we had to go up really steep hills only 1 at a time - Mum & Dad both got bogged and had to reverse back down the hill and have another go at higher speed! We arrived at a nice spot on the beach, and spent 30 mins or so snorkelling- the coral was quite pretty in parts, and there were a few fish and crustaceans around - the swell was pretty big but Renee & Eamon just swam out without a care in the world while Mum & Dad tried to catch them.
Once everyone dried off it was back on the bikes for a ride to Turtle Cliffs where after a while one of the guys spotted a lone turtle surfing in the swell, much to Taylor's relief. Eamon and Renee swapped quad bikes for the return trip, and it was quite a different experience: we went along the beach for a fair while, as an alternative to the dunes, and had 2 steep hills to get down, so that was lots of fun. A little wallaby also went across our path.
We arrived back around 3.30, and Renee & Eamon went straight to the playground and ran into the family from Ulladulla that we'd met a couple of weeks ago in Broome! Dad rang the RACV and a guy's coming out to check the car tomorrow morning to ensure we get to Carnarvon in one piece on Monday. Another very blowy evening - let's hope it improves, as we're going out on the water tomorrow.

Pity your trip has to come to an end - we were only wondering yesterday how well you were all going as we congregated at the netball tryouts again.
