We packed up slowly today and left around 9.30am for the 167km drive to Mataranka. We arrived around noon and it's really hot - around 35 degrees. So we've stayed inside most of the afternoon - Dad, Renee & Eamon went to the supermarket for supplies, while Mum caught up on some 'admin stuff'.
Once it cooled down, we wandered the 500m down to the natural Bitter Springs for a swim. We hired a noodle from the caravan park, as there's a slight current that takes you downstream for about 100m, and then you walk the path back and do it again! The water was wonderful and warm (it stays at a constant 32 degrees temperature)- it was clear and clean - my skin feels so smooth. Eamon saw a turtle through his goggles, there were lots of spiders with their webs across the stream, and we all saw a wallaby on the way there and back.
It's Eamon's 8th birthday tomorrow, so lots of wrapping & writing going on while he's not looking!
