Friday we woke up from our last night in luxury before having to check back into hostels! Laura was annoyed that she found it so easy to say goodbye yesterday as today she feels very sad, it's a lot quieter without mums and dads around! We left our hotel and headed for our hostel where we would spend the next couple of nights as tomorrow Kate and Max are meeting us for the weekend! Thursday we had breakfast then headed off to Koh Samet, a 2 and a half hour drive then a quick speed boat across to the island. The speed boat dropped us off on the beach leaving us dragging the suitcases across the sand! We tried to check in to find out the speedboat dropped us at the wrong hotel so we had to hull our suitcases onto a taxi and head off for the right destination, we were very relieved when we finally arrived! Monday we had breakfast then took a minivan to Kanchanburi which was about a 2 and a half hour drive. We arrived at our very luxurious hotel right on the River Kwai with a view of the bridge. We dumped our bags then took a stroll along to the bridge for a look, the bridge was constructed in WW2 and is part of the Death Railway, it felt like there was no way it could hold a train, however it still does. Monday we, us & Jack and Sam, were up at 5am for our 3 hour roller coaster bus journey back to Chiang Mai. After absolutely no sleep on the bus and the fact that we all felt sick we made a spontaneous decision to be dropped at the airport, rather than the bus station to catch our 10 hour coach! Friday we were collected at 10:00 for our 3 hour journey North to Pai, as soon as everyone was on the minibus the driver warned us of the drive, advising us of the 762 nautiating bends in the roads and confirming he wasn't joking by notifying us that one of his customers once had a heart attack which is always warming to the ears.
