Sunday we arrived at our hostel at 17:00, straight away we got the vibe that it was travellers central! As soon as we got to our dorm room we made friends with another couple that had just arrived, Megan and Will. We freshened up and the four of us ventured out for dinner, after dinner we headed back to the hostel bar and played beer pong - Ben obviously very happy about this!!
Monday we were up at 8:00 as agreed the night before with Megan and Will as we wanted to hire mopeds and needed to get them at 8:30 before they were all gone. We had some quick breakfast then set off on our mopeds to head to Khao Phanom Bencha National Park to see the waterfall. The moped was £3 for a full day hire which is a lot cheaper than getting cabs everywhere. It was about a 30 min drive and a small hike to the waterfall which we were able to get in and swim and stand under the falls - very refreshing! After we tried to find the Tiger Temple but ended up just driving around for an hour looking for it! We headed back to the hostel and did some washing then headed out for food at the local Street market which is on every evening, the food here is very cheap and it's fun trying all the Thai delicacies, in total we paid £3.60 for 2 meals, a beer and a sprite. After dinner we headed back to the hostel as they were holding a twister competition then hit the hay.
Tuesday we, us 2, Megan & Will, decided to go off on our mopeds again to find Tiger Temple which didn't take too long this time! We went inside one of the temples and 2 monks invited us to kneel infront of them whilst they sang and gave us braclets, after the monk started tying the braclets on people so we all went forward when he invited, after Ben Laura stepped forward for her turn and he said no, she was so worried she had done something wrong but a guy watching informed us that the monks do not touch women. After, we climbed the 1200-and something steps to the top of the mountain to see the temple at the top and for a view of Krabi which was beautiful and it was so quiet up there! As soon as we came back down it started to rain so we took cover for a little while until it passed. We had 2 options for the afternoon to either head to Railay Beach or to some natural Hot Springs. As it was a bit grey and drisly we decided the beach would not be much fun so opted for the hot springs. As you can probably guess we spent about an hour driving until we gave up on the hot springs as they did not seem to be getting any closer and by this time it was 16:00 and they close at 17:00 which was a shame so we headed back to the hostel and walked around the local shops in Krabi town instead. We had dinner at the street food market again then the boys played flip cup at the hostel before we said our goodbyes to Will and Megan and went to bed.
Wednesday we were up at 8:30 to get our stuff ready and eat breakfast before our shuttle to the ferry port. We caught the 10:30 ferry to PhiPhi Island which was to take 1 hour 30 mins and cost £6 each.
