Day 18! We took a day trip to Key West today. The bus left at 7am and got to Key West around 11am, passing through a lot of the Keys which were beautiful! Key West was STUNNING, probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and definitely the best place we've been so far on this trip. It's exactly how I would imagine a tropical paradise, all palm trees and turquoise water and tree lined streets. The houses were all late 1800s wooden painted houses with porches and white pocket fences and they were so cute! We got a hop-on hop-off trolley tour so we could see most of the island in the 6 hours we had there. It started in a cute market place with loads of bars and shops, then we got off first at the lighthouse and southernmost point of the United States. There it's only 90 miles from Cuba! (167 from Miami) The next stop we got off at was at a beach, with a cute pier. We stopped there to eat our lunch and jumped off the pier into the 30 degree water! It was strange though, not like a usual beach because there is no sand on the island. The bottom of the sea is coral reef (sore on the feet!) and there are no waves, but lots of marine life. We left the beach to get the trolley back to the market place where we got Key Lime Pie, which was so tasty! We had a look at the shops and a wander around the town centre for a wee bit before heading back to our tour bus to come back to Miami :( I would go back to Key West in a heartbeat though, I wish we could have stayed longer! Seeing as it's our last night in Miami, we went out to a club. We went to Mango's Tropical club which played mostly Latin music and was only $5 cover! It was really fun and a good way to spend our last night here. L x
