Day 17! There was a huge rainstorm this morning when we woke up (I thought someone was running the shower in the apartment for an hour while I was sleeping, that's how loud it was!) so we had a long lie and headed to the beach later in the morning. It was SO HOT today, about 38 degrees and no humidity because the rain cleared it. Today was the first day I've struggled in the heat since we got here. We sunbathed for a couple of hours then went for lunch at a tex mex place. Then this afternoon Julie and I rented rollerblades and took them along South Beach promenade. I was terrible at them! They put them on us in the shop so we skated out of the shop with them and when we got to the first crossing I did a comedy style skates-out-from-underneath-me-almost-fall. After that I decided to take them off and walk until we got to the beach... It was good fun but it was so hot and so tiring we only managed to use them for an hour! On the way back some guy in the street said "oh I think one of you dropped your smile" so we nervously laughed and he followed that with "will you marry me?" To me! He didn't seem too phased by my rejection as he did exactly the same to the girl behind us! Hahaa. We went for dinner at a place called Spaghetto which was cool, it was sort of like Subway but for pasta! I had gnocchi with tomato and cream sauce and it was really lovely. We're having a quiet night in tonight because we're going to Key West tomorrow so it's another early start! L x
