Today we left the campsite and stopped in town agani to get stamps, petrol and a NZ hoodie for me! Then we hit the road driving towards the adventure capital of NZ - Queenstown! It was quite a nice drive, sunny weather and lovely scenery. We stopped for lunch at a lakeside pic nic spot, and arrived in Queenstown mid-afternoon.
We parked up and had a wander into the vibrant town centre. First stop was the I-Site to pick up some information, While we were there we booked a jetboating trip for the next day! Then we found a cheap internet cafe and spent a few hours uploading photos from the last few weeks. Dave found a website selling heavily discounted tickets for the jetboat trip we'd just booked in the I-Site, so we went back and cancelled them, then re-booked at the much cheaper price!
We treated ourselves to an ice cream, then went to sit on the beach for a while, which was pakced with hungover backpackers from the many hostels in the town! We then reluctantly went back to the van and drove to the DOC campsite 11km out of town. After a taste of Queenstown we weren't looking forward to our pasta tea and a cold night!
The campsite was one of the better DOC sites we've stayed at - lots of space and pit toilets that don't smell! The site was busy, with quite a few other vans. We sat outside on our chairs enjoying the sun, then cooked and ate our boring tea! We got into bed early to get warm!
