Today was my birthday and we were packing up our camp in Broome and heading up to Cape Leveque. I was looking forward to it as we had heard a lot of good things about the remote location.
Before we left camp I got some lovely pressies. The kids got me some handmade jewellery and a lil purse from the Broome markets and from Sal and the boys I got a lovely pendant and some baileys... mmmm :)
We were out of service by mid morning but I did get a few birthday calls/texts beforehand which was lovely.
We stopped at Willie creek pearl farm on the way up to the cape. Yet another gorgeous spot with the turquoise water, it's just a shame that photos really don't show the beautiful colour. The kids spotted their first croc in the water which was pretty cool... so we stayed away from the creek beds ;)
They did helicopter tours of the farm, we didn't do one but the kids loved watching it take off and land right beside where they were eating the wraps we made for lunch.
Then it was back in the car and on the dirt road again up to Middle Lagoon where we were camping while in Cape Leveque. The road into there was about 30 k's of rough, red dirt... def one of the slowest travelled so far!
We found a nice spot out of the wind to set up camp and we had bought a lasagna to have as an easy dinner after setting up. Sal surprised me with a yummy carrot cake for my birthday and we washed it down nicely with some baileys :)
