Did a quick stop at Newman today to do some much needed washing and grab our next lot of groceries. The Perfects were also able to catch up with a couple of old mates which worked out well. There was not much to see in Newman except for a mining truck the kids had some photos with... I guess it was like Moranbah's red bucket :)
Next we had 3 nights at Karijini national park. We camped at Dales campground and drove to the different gorges from there. Beautiful place, so much to see and explore. We were a bit limited to what walks we could do with the kids but we were still able to see most of the gorges even just from the lookouts.
We all did the trek to Weano gorge on the first day. All the kids loved it, Caleb wanted to keep exploring afterwards and even lil seany finished it even though he wasn't his normal vibrant self.
The next morning Shaun and Garry did some exploring themselves and did a longer walk while Sal and I stayed at camp with the kids and I cooked a stew for dinner.
The kids completed an activity book from the park rangers which gave them all Junior Park Ranger badges!! They were all very excited :) I wish Caleb tackled his school work with the same enthusiasm!
In the afternoon we all did the trek to Fortescue Falls and then Fern pool. The kids especially Indi and Seany did really well climbing down the steep decent to the falls then back up again afterwards. My legs were burning afterwards so there's must have been sore!
Fern pool was absolutely breathtaking, the boys took a dip first with the kids then Sal and I handed Archie and Zane over and it was our turn :) freezing cold but very refreshing. We swam over to the waterfall for some photos where poor sal slipped on the rocks and fell. It was a hairy moment given our location and sal's bad back but all was ok thankfully.
We headed back to camp, had our yummy dinner then it was early to bed for all after we had packed up camp a bit ready for the morning.
