Driving into Broome it was a lot flatter and more spread out than what I had imagined. We stayed at the cable beach van park for 6 nights. We originally only booked for 3 but there was heaps we wanted to see and do and Sal being a keen AFL supporter, was hoping to watch the grand final on sat night and our next stop was Cape Leveque with prob no tv's close by. Unfortunately our site was booked after us but after sals sweet talking with the owner we were able to stay on our site for the extra 3 nights. I will now being taking Sal with me whenever I need to be extra persuasive :)
While in Broome we went out to Malcolm Douglas's croc farm and took the kids on the camel rides on cable beach. They loved the croc farm, we seen lots of big ones at feeding time and we all got to hold a baby croc about 1 yr old which the kids loved. It was great for them to see and learn about what crocodiles are like in the wild.. given that our next part of the trip is heading into there territory.
The camel rides were a bit scary for Benny and Indi when the camels stand up and sit back down but during the ride they loved it! Caleb, Indi and I were on one camel with Benny, Seany and Sal behind us and then Zane and Garry. Shaun was our photographer on the ground while he had Archie in the sling. It was awesome to ride the camels along such a lovely beach.
Sal and I had a good look through the pearl shops :) the boys wanted us to have a look for our birthdays. Sal did find a couple of nice pendants but nothing had really caught my eye yet.
We visited the pearl luggers, was great to see the sort of boat that mum had spent some time on growing up. They had an old pearl divers helmet there that the kids popped their heads in for a photo.
For lunch one day we visited matso's brewery and sampled some of their beers and cider. For a non beer drinker I really liked the mango cider!
Back at the park the kids were having a great time riding around on their bikes and swimming in the pool. This is the hottest temps we have got to yet (late 30's) Sal and I have bought some more singlets and I have halved our clothes by packing away all of the winter gear. I now had to find somewhere to stash the clothes we no longer needed ;)
I gave Caleb some money one morning and he rode to the shop at the front of the park by himself and bought some lollies. He was quite chuffed with himself... he is now in training to ride to the corner shop for me when we get home ;)
On our last day in Broome we went to the markets and the Perfects watched the AFL grand final. Was great to walk around the markets, I bought some local hand made jewellery and the kids bought a couple of little things with their pocket money.
Shaun and the kids went to watch the last bit of the footy with the perfects while I went back to camp with Archie.
We went to dinner at Zandos for my birthday. Lovely restaurant watching the sunset on cable beach but our meals weren't real flash and it was sooo windy sal and I needn't have bothered doing our hair ;) was still a nice night and we all enjoyed our cookies n cream cocktails.
