The boys were up early this morning to have a quiet fish without the kids before we packed up camp.
The plan was to head to Quondong point back towards Broome, then go to Derby and stock up before our venture on the Gibb River road.
We stopped at Beagle bay on the way to have a look at the church there. It was built in 1917 and decorated with pearl shells on the inside. A lot of work had gone into it and it's now an attraction for the area.
Shaun had been keeping an eye on our shockies on the camper, these were the new ones he had put in at Coral Bay. They were now also bottoming out as the leaf springs were fatigued from all the corrogation we had been on. So after Shaun making several phone calls it now looked like we had to go back to Broome and wait for new springs to arrive from Perth :(
It was a bummer as we were all keen to get into the Kimberly's. But at least we can fix the problem now I guess rather than being stuck on the Gibb.
We found a shady spot in Beagle Bay to have some lunch while Shaun diagnosed the problem. It was the hottest temp so far today - 45 deg outside according to our car. It felt like we were walking into an oven as we stepped out of the car. Archie had been quite grizzly and unsettled today, he was definitely feeling the heat. I was wiping him down with a wet cloth and he loved it.
We decided to go back to the Cable Beach c'van park in Broome to wait for the camper parts. At least we had good facilities and a pool to cool off in if we had to stay a few days.
Not long after we got there Shaun had lined up a welder from the camp that was across from us last visit. He was keen to make a start on the repairs even though we were told post from Perth could take anywhere between 3-10 days... we were hoping for 3 :)
