We have had a great look around the national park, plenty more to see but the rest will have to wait till Shaun and I return one day to do lots of exploring without the kids :) prob when we join the grey nomads.
Headed off early this morning, Sal and Garry took off about 1/2 hr before us as sal was hoping to catch up with an old friend in Tom price so the plan was to meet up there.
Just outside of the park we stopped to check over the car and camper and luckily we did as we did as a horrible burning smell and smoke was coming from one of the camper wheels. The wheel bearings had collapsed. So it was everybody out of the car to find some shade while poor Shaun had to take the wheel off and work out a plan from here. We had no phone service and the next town of Tom price was 90k's away. A nice park ranger gave Shaun a lift to the ranger headquarters to make some calls, but of coarse it was Sunday and nothing was open in Tom Price till the next morning! So he booked us a cabin for the night ($240/night!!! and we thought Moranbah was dear!)
Shaun came back and I started getting what we needed for the kids out of the camper for the night as we had to leave the camper where it was on the side of the road.
Then after having so many cars going past us and not stopping to offer help a lovely couple from brissy pulled over to see if we were ok. After telling them what had happened the man walked over to his car and came back with a spare set of the bearings we needed!! I nearly hugged him. I couldn't believe our luck. So after nearly 3 hrs with the kids in the sun we were on the road again! I have our guardian angels Diane and John address so will defiantly be sending them something in the mail :))
So we finally pulled into coral bay after 8pm that night. I don't think shaun will forget this fathers day!
We are looking forward to the morning when the kids can see the beautiful beach we have at our door for the next 2 wks!! Yay
