So right now my mom is en route to visit me! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am!!!! It feels like forever! She left Pearson Tuesday evening and is due to arrive Thursday at 9:40am…how's that for time difference?!
I already warned my mom that she has to be the "mom" of the group while she's here….you know, make sure everyone is okay and if an emergency does arise (which they always seem to do!) then she'll be on call.
I have a few things planned for us...mostly exploring the city and whatnot for a few days before we head off to Sydney for the week! (bring on the beach!!!). For the second week of her stay, I have class (including a test!) which sucks…but she's pretty resourceful so I'm sure she'll find something to do around here….
The past few days have been super busy here at Monash. On Tuesday I had an essay due, a presentation on ANZAZ Day (google it you ignorant Canadians haha), and then a field trip to Chadstone, Australia's fashion capital of the world…its pretty much the biggest and most expensive mall I have ever been too…but I did manage to score a 10$ s***!
Some friends decided to meet up with me at 'Chaddy' (as the locals call it) after my class butttttt we quickly realized that the mall closes at 5:30pm! That's insane! But then again, I shouldn't be too surprised…everything here closes so early! I don't get it, haven't Australians heard of consumerism?!
Today, Alyssa, Aeren, and I ventured into the city to get much-needed pedicures!! Although it was a bit, okay extremely, overpriced…I'm glad I went. The spa we went to was super cute and the ladies were very friendly…so although it's not something I plan on doing again…I'm glad I went. The Nicole met up with us for dinner along the Yarra River… I love this place, it seems kind of magical in a way, I don't really know how to explain it…
Oh, I have just added another flight to my already jam packed schedule. Nicole and I just booked a trip in May to Brisbane for a long weekend. Random, right? Well here's the short version of why we're traveling here. So Alyssa just come back from visiting friends there and when I met up with her on Sunday for dinner to catch up (yes, although we were only separated for 3 days, a 'catch up' dinner was very necessary), she had a 'surprise' to show me….so I look and it's a friggin picture of her HOLDING a KOALA. I lost it. There is no way in hell I can leave Australia without squeezing one! Although at the penguin parade, I did get up close and personal with one, its just not the same! So after recovering from my shock, I realized there is no where in Melbourne where I can legally do this….so Nicole said she'd pull a mission to Brisbane just to hold one….fast forward a few days later…and thanks to cheap seats courtesy of Virgin Blue airlines, our flight leaves May 21st!!! WHOOOOO! At first my crazy-busy school schedule made me nervous, but in the words of Nicole's mom "Well, you know Nike says 'Just do it!". Point taken.
Ughhh all this traveling is going to ware me and my bank account out…..I guess taking a billion calls in the Admissions office is paying off!
Okay I really need to get some sleep!! I'm hitting up the gym super early tomorrow and then I've got a Skype date!
Keep ya posted!
