Have you ever waited at the finish line for a big race - a marathon or similar? The elite runners come in fast, usually in a clump but sometimes there's a true front runner. Then for quite some time the good runners finish, followed by the middle of the packers, and then the slow runners and those who walked part of the way. The runners and spectators leave, and then many of the people working the race start packing up to leave. And then, finally that last poor soul comes hobbling in. Today, I was that last poor soul.
My knee started hurting first thing this morning - but only downhill. Unfortunately there was a lot of up and down. I hoped it would get better but it didn't. I think I'll look for a knee brace and dump what I can of my pack.

Jane I've been enjoying your blog. I think you are so strong and brave to do this. Bill will tell you that downhill is the hardest on knees. I hope you have some Advil. Hang in there, but don't hurt yourself.
