So, as we approached Aruza today JO says "if our bags hadn't been delivered here already, I'd say lets keep on going!" And, this morning he was up and ready to walk bright and early!! I think by the 3rd or 4th day you really do get into the groove of it.
Usually when I travel I am ready to be home well before my return date. I long for my life, home, family... Not so this time. I would be content to just keep walking. What a luxury to have this time.
The difference in lifestyle between the US and towns we've passed thru is quite stark. Most businesses close around 2:00 or 3:00 and reopen around 7:00 or 8:00. People are eating dinner at 10:00 pm! It's difficult to arrive at your destination just about the time everything closes and have to wait to eat dinner after you wish you were already asleep!
But, everything comes alive around eight. Kids are playing in the plazas and streets, couples are chatting in the plazas while they enjoy the sun and a coffee or other beverage, and families are eating in the restaurants - for hours. The culture is truly family oriented. It's joyful to watch.
Just 2 more days until we reach Santiago. We will then travel by car to Cape Finisterre. Cape Finisterre is on the west coast of Spain and during Roman times was thought to be the end of the world (that of course was when the world was flat).

Cheryl What are you thinking of and what knowledge do you have to share my friend?
lynn I couldn't be happier for you two. Enjoy.
Esther As a lover of naps I think the Spanish have got it right! It is so family oriented and is so different to see the kids up and eating dinner 10pm and then the families cruizing the streets even later xoxo
